The Jyothirgamaya project came back to the place where it all started – near Visakhapatnam. On Sunday, September 11, 2011, MW The Grand Master inaugurated solar installations at four villages in the Araku valley area in severely trying conditions. The first village, Salmanda, involved a trek of more than three km through narrow, steep mountainous paths and sheer rock while the others involved MW The Grand Master’s jeep getting stuck in the midst of a mountain stream, wading barefoot across a flow of water and going through slush. The turnout of masons was massive with 55 brethren and nine ladies coming to Araku the previous night itself to facilitate early commencement and finish of all the projects on the next day. With these, the total number of projects executed under the Jyothirgamaya scheme touched 49, one short of the minimum target of 50.
The villages were adopted by four Lodges based at Visakapatnam, who used this opportunity to carry out other charity projects in these villages like a medical camp, distribution of rice and foodgrains, donation of notebooks and slates to children, etc.
