I welcome you all to this half yearly communication of the RGML of Southern India. We have come to the concluding session of this half yearly meet and I thank every one of you for being here these two days and making the meet a memorable one.
Brethren as I had mentioned in the Chapter, I am really happy to inform you that there has been a steady growth in both Mark and RAM degrees. In the Mark degree there has been 38 advancements and 51 joining members, taking the total membership to 2564. In RAM degree there has been 34 elevations and 111 joining members, thus a present membership of 1800.
The major increase has been due to the four consecrations. Mark Lodge Trivandrum No.125, RAM Lodge Travancore No.118, both at Thiruvananthapuram, RAM Lodge Srinivasa No.43 in Tirichirapalli and RAM Lodge GK Devarajalu No.79 in Coimbatore. Thus the region now has 49 Mark Lodges and 38 RAM Lodges.
I have had the pleasant opportunity to visit 8 Mark Lodges and 8 RAM Lodges during the first half of my term and happy to report that as in the other degrees i had the fortune to witness our distinguished members being honoured for their Long Service. The most memorable being two 50 year presentation in the Mark Degree and one 50 year in the RAM degree which was a very rare event.
The area meets as I had already mentioned, are being organised to promote the growth and proper working of these degrees and I exhort you my brethren to please make good use of it. Please do attend in large numbers and make them successful. You know very well my brethren, that the practice of this degree must be well understood and appreciated by each one of you to further the reputation of your Lodges, in promoting Brotherly Love Relief and Truth.
Before I bid you all farewell, I must place on record my thanks to the brethren of the organising committee ably lead by W.Br.Chidambaram, W.Bro.Jayaraman and W.Bro.Manickvel Pandian who have toiled for days and months to see that your visit to Thanjavur , a memory to cherish.
